Without trying to brag or chase clout, I consider myself to be very talented. Over the years, I have been able to hone some of them and even picked up new ones along the way. Yes. I’m blessed.
But you see, there’s one very useless skill I have. It’s not anything to be ashamed of really, it's just not a lucrative skill and that’s where that’s the problem. What’s the use of having a skill that cannot make me some extra coins?
Maybe I shouldn’t be so hasty about writing it off and let you be the judge.
Here’s the thing — I’m a fast eater.
Yes, I’m that guy that would clean out a plate of food and wonder why it’s taking so long for others to finish up. Depending on the kind of food on the table, it takes me four minutes on average to eat up and be done.
While growing up, I was a dining table champion even though I don't have trophies to show for it. My appetite was really huge. After consuming whatever heap of food mum served me, I would go round the table to scavenge. Sweet memories. Now that I’m grown, my appetite is not so big anymore but I remain the undisputed champion.
Have I made any attempt to monetize this skill? Yes. I have searched the internet for money-making opportunities for fast-eaters. Unfortunately, there’s nothing out there.
The thought of joining a food eating challenge has crossed my mind before, but I don’t want to disgrace my forefathers by showing up on the screen as a glutton. Imagine my kids stumbling on a video of me chunking down huge morsels of Eba in a competition. How do you think they will look at me? No, I’ll pass.
I don’t know about you, but being a fast eater has not done anything tangible for me. If there’s something I need to know, I’m very open to suggestions.
For now, eating fast is the most useless skill I have.
